My Story

My name is Simon and I am the face behind The Caravan Repair Man, a Mobile Caravan and Motorhome Engineer which covers the whole of Hampshire.

I left the British Army after 11 years exemplary service and decided I wanted to pursue a career in mechanical engineering in the leisure industry, so started at a local dealership as a trainee engineer.  After three years experience working with a great team, I sat and passed the National Caravan Council Service Engineer Award NVQ which enabled me to work independently on leisure vehicles. 

Within my first dealership I undertook a variety of roles, including Service Engineer, Damp and Construction Repairs and Sales at the NEC Camping and Caravan Show where I could be found on either the Bailey of Lunar stands.

After 5 years I decided I wanted to gain extra experience in the industry and moved to a large national motorhome dealership which gave me the opportunity to explore motorhomes and their different variants and construction methods.  My role rapidly changed where I was promoted to an Engineering Management position where I was responsible for overseeing the quality and methods of work which takes place in the workshop.  During my time I was relocated to different dealerships to improve workshops and the customer relationships.

With over a decade at dealerships I saw the potential in Mobile Engineering and decided to take the plunge and start my own company.  Fast forward to 2023 and I operate a successful business where I can work with clients on a personal basis to maintain their leisure vehicles.  My goal is to provide a first class personal service to my clients it the comfort of their own home.
